Instructora Garoa's dream from an early age growing up in Sao Paulo was to learn the beautiful art of Capoeira, but she never had the chance until 2008 where she started training under Mestre George Palmares in Newark NJ. She fell in love with Capoeira and has been ever since. She has been a student of Mestre Zumbi since 2012. Garoa became Mestre Zumbi’s assistant for his children’s class in Newark in 2014. In 2015 she continued to teach children's classes in two Newark Dance Schools, and at the Boys and Girls Club under Mestre Zumbi’s supervision. On 2015 she earned her Instructora cord and continues to teach children and teens at Dance Palooza, a studio she opened in Harrison NJ to involve the community in dance and martial arts. Garoa has also assisted Mestre Zumbi in organizing his first and second Women’s Capoeira Encounter event held in NYC. Her love and passion for Capoeira has made her understand the importance of women’s presence in Capoeira, and the example women set on the world stage. She also believes in and understands the benefits, power, influence and importance martial arts brings to children of all ages. She follows her Mestre’s philosophy and truly believes that Capoeira brings LOVE, PEACE & HARMONY to life.
